Stronger Super

PDFPrintE-mail

AdminPARTNERS has an ongoing project to gather latest publications, reviews and recommendations around Stronger Super and plan for changes. We have established a user group to ensure our effort is inline with market development. This is becoming a full-time job as there is certainly no shortage of material on the Internet.

Whilst we are waiting for the draft legislation to be submitted to Parliament, there are several formal publications that further clarify the expected approach and outcomes.

We published the PwC timeline report on our LinkedIn company profile, for those without a Linked In account here is the link to the report.

ATO has also recently published updates on Stronger Super, read it here.

Mobile version of MySuperSolution

PDFPrintE-mail

AdminPARTNERS has started developing a mobile version of MySuperSolution. This will allow members and advisors more flexibility in accessing MySuperSolution on smart phone and tablets.  The selected approach is to redirect access from a client specific app to the MSS website in which determines the type of the device (PC, Tablet or smartphone) and displays the pages in accordance with the type and size of the device?

The emphasis on the first phase of this project is on member access on smart phone and Advisor access on tablets.

Ad hoc reporting

PDFPrintE-mail

Information held in MySuperSolution can currently be accessed in over 220 existing reports.  For some, this is not enough!  So to ensure that our clients can have access to the data they need, in the form they would like, AdminPARTNERS is investing in new reporting technology that will allow a user to build and extract their own reports from their data.

More details will be provided once we have evaluated the technologies.

Additionally there will be a facility to hide MySuperSolution’s existing Scheme reports that our clients do not use or no longer need. These reports will be able be hidden, unhidden and maintained on an ongoing basis.  We can assist our client by bulk hiding the unused reports as a starting point or alternatively client can gradually hide the reports.

The Federal Government’s FY2012-13 Budget  announced last night on 8 May 2012 contains some significant changes including increasing the contribution tax for high income earners. The calculation of income includes salary as well as concessional and salary sacrifice contributions. How this is to be collected is yet to be announced however it comes into effect from 1 June 2012.

Superannuation industry is already changing fast due to Cooper and Henry reviews, A “temporary” levy will be imposed on APRA regulated funds for 2012-2013 to fund the Governments costs for SuperStream technology. No amount was announced but the discussion Paper is coming…. I hope the Government does not continue to introduce more changes this year (or change its mind on more announcements from last year), and allows the industry to absorb, plan and implement the changes already announced without worrying about more changes...  wishful thinking?? you bet…

Did you know... ?

We have recently come across SOME very strange behaviour on Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) which we believe is worth sharing with you…

It has brought to our attention that after logging to a site (i.e. www.mysupersolution.com.au) if the link is stored on “Favourite” menu item of IE9, the browser automatically remembers user session information alongside the link, despite the fact that the link stored has no other information.

This feature causes confusion when clicking the link which causes the “Session Expired” message on MySuperSolution site to appear every time the site is accessed via “Favourite” link on IE9.

It is a very strange feature of IE9 which we have not been able replicate on other browsers, earlier versions of IE, or even links on the IE9 Address bar (see the picture below).

We have sought clarification from Microsoft and we are awaiting a response. We will continue to search for a workaround and will keep our client informed

In addition to the above, IE6 and IE7 have also well documented security vulnerability and not supported by many major providers (i.e. Google). We would like to advise our users that MySuperSolution will not support IE6 and IE7 from Jan 2013.

Talking about the security MySuperSolution built-in security was enhanced on late 2010 in accordance with APRA Prudential Practice Guideline published. We thought it would be timely to remind our clients about MSS security configuration, please contact us to send you the associated configuration specification.
